Getting fired from work?

I am so sorry about the delay but I was way busy. This is even worse than when I was in school back then. So of course I have a life story is write about. I really need to write it down because I really need to empty my heart out.

 

Everything happened yesterday at work. I was selling lottery tickets as usual and I close at the usual time. When it's time to close the booth, it's report time. >_> ...Yey! I have to calculate if the money balances and there's nothing missing. So what the worst thing that can ever happen? It's the money that doesn't balance and goes negative. That's when my boss will whoop our asses.

 

I was sitting there on the chair counting the leftover tickets while I was still harassed by customers that keep on coming despite the closing time. I was annoyed, just wanted to go home, and some clients who just come and chat with me. It's really hard to kindly tell them to go away. I rapidly count the money. I remember like it was 5 minutes ago. There was a total transaction of 5 000$ and I made a deposit of more than 1 000$. Everything balanced at -3$ which is good considering I was on my own all shift long on a Sunday. Yes, it's in the negative but as long as it's not more than 30$, we're not in trouble.

 

So, I took an empty bag from a drawer. That's where we put all the empty bags for money deposits. So I count the money, put all the money in the hot fuchsia bag and I left it on the chair. I never leave it on the counter because I am afraid that someone could just snatch it and run away. On a second note, the door of our booth station is always locked. ALWAYS!!! The mall was getting empty. Next, I was putting some stuff away, tidied the place a bit, and I was about the lock the big chest. Before I did it, I looked the content just to make sure my deposit is there and guess what! It wasn't there. Of course it wasn't there because I left it on the chair right? So I turned around and looked at the chair. The bag wasn't there anymore. It's ok! I'll just look around. I must of got carried away and put it in a different place. I searched back and forth for at least 7 minutes. I still haven't found the fucking bag! I swear I was nervous. We're not talking about a loss of 100$ but more than 1000$. Are you serious?

 

This can't be it. Everyone around me was gone except for some shops where employees are still cleaning and finishing up some stuff. How can this be possible? How can it disappear just like that? Did someone steal it? More than 1000$ lost in a blink. I am so fucked. I began to panic. My cell phone rang and I answered.

 

mom: Are you done yet? Are you still at the store?

me: *talked in a hurry* I can't talk to you right now. I got stuff to do.

mom: Don't forget to buy celeries before you come home.

me: What!? Screw your celeries! I lost 1000$. I don't have time for this.

mom: :O What!? What happened?

me: I don't know. I lost all the money that the store earned today. I can't talk to you right now. So I 'll call you later.

mom: okay!!!

 

I just hang up the phone and took a deep breath. What the fuck do I do? I open my cell phone once again and call my boss. It was the only thing I could think off.

 

boss: Hello?

me: Boss! Oh thank god! Are you near mall right now?

boss: Sort of...I'm about to..

me: *interrupts my boss* You got to help me! Can you come at the mall right away? I've lost all the money deposit. I just can't find it!!! @_@

boss: >_> What are you talking about?

me: I put all the money inside the bag few minutes ago but I can't find it right now.

boss: ok ok! Where was the last time you saw it?

me: On the chair!!!

boss: Are you sure, it's not already in the safe? Go and look at it right now.

me: ...noo it's not there. Please! You have to come!!!!

boss: *annoyed* urgh! ok! I'm coming. Keep looking while I'm on my way.

me: ok!

 

So I continued to search. The only thoughts that I had was that I am going to lose my job and my boss will also be in trouble with the big boss. My heartbeat was madly racing. I looked up and spotted a security agent. I waved and called him. When he finally got my attention, he walked into my direction as if he was in a garden. Looking and at his own reflection on the display window. How can someone walk so slowly as if nothing happened? Waiting for him to come seemed like an eternity. There isn't much sunlight inside the mall but he had sunglasses on. For the style maybe? He talked with me with his African accent.

 

me: Is there a camera nearby here?

security guard: Nope. There's on the other side though. Why?

me: I want to make sure if I got robbed. My deposit just disappeared.

security: That's odd. Isn't the door of your booth always locked?

me: yes it is.

security: Where did you put the bag last time?

me: On the chair.

security: Then the chance for someone to steal it is very small. Were you inside the entire time?

me: Yes! I didn't leave the place!

security: So it's impossible because you would of noticed. The thief would have to jump over the counter to snatch the bag away. But when you were done putting money in the bag, why didn't you put it in the safe immediately?

me: I don't know...I can't remember. I called my boss. She should be here soon.

Security: keep on looking. It must be around. Ok... just tell me where you started in the beginning.

me: * walks toward the first drawer where there are empty bags* I opened this drawer...*notices the hot pink bag is sitting here* OH MY GOD! I FOUND IT! @_@

security: =_=

me: But why did I put it there?? What got into me!? I am so sorry sir! I panicked really badly and I just lost it.

security: It's ok. It happens.

 

I glared at the bag for a moment and dropped it inside the safe.

 

me: Oh yeah I have to call boss.

security: Do hurry. Maybe she would drive fast because of this situation.

 

So I called my boss and told her I found it. what an adventure! She came anyway to pick up something that she forgot at the booth. I also appreciated the security guard who stayed with me until my boss came to keep me company. So at the end of the day, I became the laughing stock of the mall. ==_== How embarrassing! I made a scene and everything while the money was just chilling there. But I was honestly relieved to retrieve the money. At least, my boss and the security got amused by this crap.

 

So today, the security came back to our booth.

 

security: careful with the money! :)

boss: :3 haha

That was definitely a one of a kind experience. I seriously need to chill out a little and think clearly. Anyways, I hope you guys will have a great week. Thank you for reading! :)
