Food Obsession

Like the title says, I will be talking about food fetish today! :) I am sure everyone has a certain meal or snack that you enjoy any time of the day and can't get tired of it. Well i am going to talk about mine ;O Before I go any further, let me introduce to my friend :D Her nickname is Izzy!!!

She is sooo photogenic and looks so natural. awww :) This picture was taken few days ago and we had lunch together at a very yummy place in Chinatown. To begin, my food obsession all began with her. I think it was two years ago, she invited me for lunch at her place. Then she introduced to the most warm, soft, and smooth drink I ever had! That is SOYA MILK!!!! Ok..you might think: 'You can buy that in stores Gloria! What's all the surprise about it? There's even the thick ones at Maxi, ..' Ok! I have to stop you right there. The soya milk she gave me is home made. I guanrantee you there's a huge difference between the in-store product and the freshly made. I used to buy the ones in the asian store but not anymore. The fresh soya milk owns it! And please, don't even talk about the thick soya milk. What's the brand again? Natura? I am not sure. It says organic on the box but afterall they add alot of stuff of there since it is enriched. You look at the nutritional fact and there's a huge list of what contains in there. I remember my 'organic chemestry' teacher saying there's alot of vitamins waste in your pee. We overdose soo much ourselves with proteins, vitamins, etc. On a side note, I wonder how they made the soya milk thick...not natural at all! When you make the soya milk yourself, it's all natural. The soya milk maker costs around 80$ but it's worth every penny. The beans itself are not expensive at all. In fact there's the white and also the black one. From my perception and Izzy's, black soya milk owns the white one on soo many levels. Thank you Izzy for introducing me to this drink!

My second food fetish is chicken feet. I must admit that this one doesn't sound appetizing. I went to Izzy's place again for a lunch together and she gave me two pieces of chicken feet. It was pickled in some vinegar and other spices I think. At first, I was like ok...I can try that. You see I always like to try new things and when people are kind enough to serve you food, I find it rude to critisize other's people food when they put the effort into it. But when I saw the chicken feet, I think my stomach turned upside down a little haha. I curiously looked at its skin. I was like: 'hmmm o.o'. So I took a bite and I must say that it wasn't bad. It's just that I'm not used to the texture. She was in the kitchen and asked: 'Gloria, are you okay? You sound quiet today!' I just responded that I was a little sleepy or something like that which I was a little at that time. At the end, I didn't finish the chicken feet and I really hate wasting food. The idea of throwing it away and people starving around the world made me angry at myself. She assured me it was ok.

On my way home, I still had the taste in my mouth. But supprisingly, it was a pleasant one. The next day, I wanted to try another chicken feet. Everytime my mom and grandma went for groceries, I tagged along to hunt those chicken feet but couldn't find it anywhere. After getting back in contact with Izzy again, it was my opportunity to ask her where to get it. As a result, I was delighted to have an easy access to it. I ate two chickn feet and it was sooo yummmy!!!! I can't get tired of it! I think it's an aquaincted taste. I remember the first time I had bubble tea and sushi, I didn't appreciate as much as today. The weird taste of the tapioca in my mouth and the raw fish got my heart later on. Chicken feet is not available in my friedge but sorry i can't share it with you guys :/ but i have to share with my mom because she is a fan of it too :O

Moral of the story: before you judge a meal by its look, taste it first. The most weird looking meal could be your favourite one!

Here's another picture of our meeting! I love the quality of the picture and the effect it does.

I should try to make the post smaller but I always get carried away! :/ Allright, I hope you enjoy reading! :) Have a great weekend everyone!

ps.. Izzy, if you read this post, I want to thank you for all the wonders you introduced to me and all the great time we had together :D

    1. lol really? O.O I can give it a try for teh recipe. When I bought it, it was already pickled but my mom says it's easy to make.

      Pickled chicken feet

      1. So get the raw chicken feet, then boil them until the skin looks clear (don't boil them for too long).

      2. Let cool down and then remove the nails with a knife.

      3. Fill a container with rice vinegar, rice wine, sugar, salt, and some ginger. (the ratio is according to your taste...so careful about the vinegar)

      4. Put the chicken in the container and seal it overnight. Then it will be ready to eat :)

I find you to be very brave Roma! ...and i thought that you hate asian food lol When I told thany about chicken feet, he almost fainted. If you actually try it, let me know how it turns out.

Oh yeah, I will upload a picture of a chicken feet next post. goodluck xD
