Hello friends,
My family visited the sugar house last saturday :) What is a sugar house? I'll explain. Canada is not only famous for the Niagara falls but it is also popular for maple syrup. So in Quebec, there's alot of those maple trees that produce a sweet sap. Next, the sap is boiled to a thick consistency to become the syrup we put on pancakes XD The sugar house is only available in March and April I think. The purpose of that visit was for our guests.
We had to wait in a long line for about 15 minutes before entering the dining room.
It's an 'all you can eat' meal. It also came with soup, and beans but I was soo hungry that I forgot to take pictures of them. We didn't even ask more food and we weren't able to finish everything. For dessert, there was vanilla ice cream, pancakes, and sugar pie. Overall, the food was good but i was expecting a little more. the hotdogs and the eggs seemed mundane to me. The guy next to me was covering his meal with maple syrup. I did find it weird to eat savory food with sweet syrup o.o Anyway, I got very full and didn't eat anything until next day for lunch. To be honest, we were worried that the viking (ogre) wouldn't eat the food because he doesn't eat ham. He prefers pure chicken, pork, or beef. But since only those were available, he didn't have a choice to eat and stuff himself. I asked if he enjoyed his meal and he did. Mission accomplished! Next, we went for a horse riding :) Ok...the last statement is misleading. We had to sit into a carriage and the house would pull it.
The blue strings are actually tiny drains that transports the sap to the factory where they process to make maple syrup. Before going home, we ate maple candy on stick XD
What happens here is the owner layering the hot maple syrup on the snow. As it hardens, you simply roll your popcycle stick and then you obtain your maple lollipop :D I ate one lollipop and wished I could have some more but my family wanted to go back quickly because they ate too much and wanted to rest :/
Anyway, I enjoyed it. I'll probably go back next year with my friends. Stay tuned for more this week! :)
Lol ive been living here in Canada for like 3 years now and ive never tasted maple syrup :P .. i wonder if its tasty :P
ReplyDeletehaha I rarely buy maple syrup. The only time I did was during an elementary school trip with my classmates where I had the pancakes with that syrup. Then I bought a maple lollipop during my teenage years to support the seller. This is my third time in my life eating it again. I'm not thrilled about it but you should try :P I can send you a maple candy by mail if you want haha!!!
